On Monday, 9th October 2023, Uganda celebrated the 61st anniversary of its independence that was hosted by the northern district of Kitgum. The theme of the event was:
"Sustaining a united and a progressive nation: Taking charge of our future as a free nation".
At Nyabikoni Secondary School the celebration of the Uganda's 61st independence anniversary took slightly a different path. It all started with learners' talent exhibition that included among others performing arts, singing and dancing. This exhibition commenced at 8:00 AM until noon. Later during the day, it was football.
Two football matches were held – One featuring O' and A'level teams and the other between staff and student leaders. The former fixture ended 2 - 0, in favour of A'level. The same result it was for the latter fixture, thanks to first half penalty goal by Tr. Kimuli Richard and the second half goal by Tr. Owomugisha Methodius.
